  • CONCEPT

For this project, I designed a rocking chair for my newly born nephew.

    GOALS:

    • Classic, sturdy design with curved edges for safety

    • Make the chair fit with a rocketship themed nursery

    • Add color or sparkle for nephew’s enjoyment

I faced quite a few setbacks in making this chair. I began working on it pre-Covid and was unable to continue using UWM’s woodshop and machinery. I ended up taking my pieces home and working on them in my garage and basement. I borrowed tools from various friends and became well acquainted with the staff at Home Depot and Harbor Freight.

Here is a photo of one of the rockers, which I laid out to let the stain dry. My dad then accidentally ran over them with his car.

…It took a bit of sanding to fix.
